Measuring supply chain performance measures - prioritizing performance measures

Supply chain and supply chain management has been widely described in literature. There are many articles and papers that present concept and terms related to the internal or external integrated supply chain. Some of these published articles contain descriptive models that usually divide the flows of supply chains into steps or phases and indicate how they are related. Meanwhile other articles contain calculation methods for calculation within supply chain flows. In this paper, we classify 140 published articles, all of which are related to two types of supply chain flows, physical material flows and information flows. A second classification divides the papers into those describing the flows and those containing methods for calculating different performance measures. The classification reveals that the majority of the analysed papers describe the flows, often dividing them into steps or phases, as well as suggesting ways to connect the phases, through e.g. cooperation, organisation, management etc. Only a few paper describe calculation methods or how to estimate time related factors, cost, profits, benefits, potential opportunities etc of the flows.
